The business world is tough and competitive, and everyone knows that to succeed in it, you have to have a wide array of skills. You have to be personable with clients and coworkers, knowledgeable enough to do the work required of you, tech-adept to grow and evolve over the course of your career, and have the ability to persevere enough to put in long hours in less than ideal conditions.

A little-remembered fact, though, that will get you through thick and thin is this: the smartest business minds are great at math and management, but they are also serious readers. The top CEOs are known to read hundreds of volumes a year from fiction and non-fiction alike.

What Is a Magazines For Economics?

Magazines for economics are often referred to as business magazines. Every aspect of the economy is covered by these magazines, from the short-term and long-term value of products to the best companies to invest in and the most successful companies to work for. These magazines can feature a variety of types of articles, from the actual sales and marketing of products and services to the management behind the scenes that keeps them going.

It’s important to note that magazines for economics cater to audiences with varying levels of experience in the field.

For example, magazines geared towards beginner readers may simply focus on the basic principles of business and success like budgeting, saving, or just the important things to know about following money in the math-heavy world of business.

Magazines for more seasoned economic readers, however, will look at the social as well as the economic side of business. For example, these magazines will cover topics like inequality and other socio-economic factors arising in response to events like the financial crisis.

Once you become more knowledgeable about the world of business, you’ll find that the business magazines you’ve purchased are still useful. Magazines for economics are an integral part of every business professional’s library, so you’ve just taken the first step towards becoming the best business professional you can!

Most Common Types of Magazines For Economics

Magazines for economics cover the entire field of business, more accurately referred to as managerial economics, and can be conveniently classified into a few categories.

These categories, however, don’t actually define the type of magazine, just whose porthole you’re looking into.

Business magazines under the management category are those that are geared towards the running of companies and big business. These types of magazines pay close attention to the practice of running a business rather than the products or services that businesses sell, and often concentrate on how profits are generated, managed, and re-invested by successful corporations.

Do note that while profit might be the main objective driving many economic operations, you’re going to have to dig a little deeper to find exceptions.

Economic Policy

These magazines are heavily focused on how public and government policies affect the economy. In the United States, economic policy is set by a few key agencies: the Federal Reserve Bank regulates the amount of liquidity in the economy, the Federal Trade Commission polices the way businesses operate, and the Treasury Department manages the public’s finances (i.e.- the U.S. budget).

You’ll find that these magazines also delve into the ongoing trends behind each policy, including ways to improve its efficiency.

Maintenance & Supply Chain Management

These magazines cover the basics of supply chain management, as well as the infrastructure needed to keep business operations going.

These include innovations like trucks and distribution centers, and the employees and infrastructure needed to operate them.

Briefly, analytics is the equation-driven, data-driven, investigative study of the economy. It’s the answer to the very basic questions asked when you first start out by realtors and other business entities.

Business magazines under this category are not your typical newsstand fare. They are often deeply technical, like the Sloan Management Review, which analyzes marketing in the digital era, or journals that investigate the world of big business like the Review of Industrial Organization, which is focused on the changing landscape of industry.

Political Economy

These magazines look at the interaction between politicians and business leaders. Political analysts assess the changing politics of a nation, and the effect these changes have on business enterprise.

Though these magazines are often rooted in politics, they often also focus on political theory. Politicians and policymakers around the world are constantly borrowing ideas from one another to see what kind of effect they might have, and the analysts writing for these magazines look at the hidden motivations of these practices.

Business magazines under this category focus on the way money affects America’s political landscape.

These magazines are most commonly read by business hopefuls who are looking to make a difference in the world through political means.

They include the New Republic, which looks at how government can improve society, and Forbes, which considers the power of philanthropy and business to bring about change on a grassroots level.

Who Reads Magazines For Economics?

Anyone who wants a better understanding of the economy will find the best news in these business magazines.

They are also useful for anyone who’s looking into the business world and wants to know the ins and outs of business and management.

You can find a variety of types of articles and editorial in magazines for economics, depending on your experience and knowledge of the field; they are useful for everyone, from the budding entrepreneur to the seasoned CEO.

The Economist

This product was recommended by Hugo Guerreiro from Who Is Blogging

The Economist is the best magazine in the area. Why? I am a curious person. I always want to know what is happening globally, but I don’t follow the daily news. I find the daily news very distracting because you always end up reading or watching stuff that doesn’t matter to you. You lose your precious time. With the Economist, you can pay attention to news that matters. This London-based magazine covers all from economic, business, political, and social news. They give you the essential facts and don’t stuff their articles with unnecessary information. If you are looking for a magazine, you can weekly read during your commute to work, and the Economist will be your number one choice like it is mined,

You won’t find a more respected economics magazine than Barron’s, especially when it comes to investing and finance. Each issue is brimming with ideas for budding individual investors – with in-depth analysis, charts, expert views and everything else you need in your armoury to make an important financial decision. It’s not an overly technical/complicated magazine, it’s simplicity to read is what makes it popular with some many readers. It doesn’t dumb it down so to speak, more that it cuts out the unnecceary jargon and speaks to the reader on a conversational, informal level

Harvard Business Review

This product was recommended by Ethan Taub from Debtry

HBR is always a fantastic read every other month and has great content that covers both current news and past affairs, allowing us to have an insight on what caused major declines previously so that we can prevent it from happening again. Though the price can be steep, the research and developments that are documented are invaluable and extremely in-depth. I would say this is an essential read for professionals in the field, but it is a great read for anyone remotely interested and is thinking of starting out in the industry.’

The Wall Street Journal

This product was recommended by Matthew Dailly from Tiger Financial

One of the best economist magazines out there is The Wall Street Journal. There is a reason it has been around since 1889. It is THE go to resource for financial news, and I do not see that changing anytime soon. While there are plenty of other magazines on the market, there is not one out there that is as clear and concise at The Wall Street Journal. I mean, I grew up with that magazine, I read it even in my teenage years. As someone who has always been fascinated with finances, there is no better resource to go to as a first dip in the water into the world of finance, but there is also no other resource that is as consistently good.
