Men’s Skin-Care Tips: A Guide to Healthier Skin

As time passes, the idea that skin care is a women’s only activity is becoming a thing of the past. Everyone has skin, and it’s the body’s largest organ, so why wouldn’t everyone want to take care of it? To help some of the guys out there that don’t know where to start, let’s take a look at a few men’s skin-care tips for healthier skin.

Cleanse To Remove Impurities

Cleansing your skin every morning and every night will remove acne-causing impurities, such as dirt, bacteria, excess facial oil (sebum), and sweat from your pores. However, you can’t wash your face with just anything. If you do, you risk stripping the skin of its natural oil instead of cleaning it. Water-based facial cleansers with acne-fighting ingredients, such as hyaluronic acid, are great for all skin types and will break up the gunk in your pores.

Repair Skin Damage

Once you’ve cleaned your skin, it’s time to tackle your specific skin issue. Whether you have whiteheads, blackheads, pustules, cystic acne, acne scars, uneven skin tone, dry skin, oily skin, or dark circles, there’s a product out there for you. A vitamin C serum is a good catch-all skin-care product that can slowly repair these issues by promoting new, healthy skin cells.

However, if you need a product that’s more pinpointed, look for something designed to tackle your specific issue. If you can’t, don’t be afraid to speak with a dermatologist or an aesthetician for recommendations.

Moisturize To Lock In Hydration

Every time you clean your face, you should moisturize it as well. You should use a daily face moisturizer to replace some of the healthy oils you lost while cleansing and lock in the water on the surface of your skin. You can use a thicker moisturizing cream during the day for all-day hydration and a light moisturizer at night. If you apply a thick moisturizer before bed, things like dirt and dead skin cells are more likely to stick to the cream, enter your pores, and cause acne.

Protect Your Skin From UV Rays

Before you go outside, you should apply some form of sun protection. While the term free radicals may sound odd, there is a science to it. The UV rays from sunlight stimulate the formation of free radicals, which are oxygen molecules that put stress on and steal energy from our healthy cells. Applying sunscreen prevents these free radicals from forming and keeps your skin cells healthy.

Hopefully, these men’s skin-care tips act as a guide to help you achieve healthier skin more easily. Breaking out into the world of skin-care is intimidating, but don’t let that stop you from taking care of your body. Stick to these simple steps, and you’re already on your way.
